What a scholarship actually covers

The word scholarship makes people picture tuition, a single line on a form. In practice, tuition is often the part a family can already manage. The bill that quietly ends a child's schooling is the pile around it: the uniform, the exam fee, the books, the bus fare. A scholarship that covers only the headline number can still leave a student outside the gate.

The fee is only the start

A place in school comes with a list. Fees, a uniform that fits, books for the term, and exam costs that fall due at the worst possible moment. Miss any one item and the seat sits empty, no matter how well the rest was paid. So we look at the whole list a student is facing, not just the line that is easiest to fund.

It runs longer than one year

Support that stops after a single year can waste the years before it. A student who has to drop out in the last term loses most of what the earlier terms built. Where we can, we plan for the longer path, from secondary school through university or a trade program, so the finish line is real and not just the next invoice.

The point is to keep the seat filled

The student earned the place. They sat the tests and did the work. Our job is narrow and unglamorous: remove the small, ordinary obstacles that would otherwise push them out, and then follow the lead of the people who know that student best. Keep the seat filled, and the rest is theirs to do.
