Opportunity
A young person's chances should not be decided by where they were born. Given the same support, ability shows up everywhere. Helping to even out that access, one student at a time, is most of what we do.
These are the things we hold ourselves to when a decision is hard. Every program and every gift has to sit right with all five.
A young person's chances should not be decided by where they were born. Given the same support, ability shows up everywhere. Helping to even out that access, one student at a time, is most of what we do.
We keep coming back to school because it works. A paid exam fee or a full bookshelf widens what a young person can become, and it keeps paying off for the rest of their life. When we are unsure where support should go, school is the safe answer.
The parents and home directors we work with know their community far better than we ever will. We treat them as partners, not cases to be managed. We ask what is actually needed, and then we follow their lead.
Supporters see where their gift goes, down to the delivery. When something does not work, we say so. When we have not reached a place yet, we do not pretend we have. For a small organisation, trust is the whole account.
We deliver in person and stay for the day, because it is the best way to know the support reached the people it was meant for. Then we come back. A relationship people can count on does more than any one-time drop-off could.
Give a young person knowledge, a fair chance, and a little hope, and they do more with it than we ever could on their behalf.
